The Blues High Performance Training Facility comprises a purpose-built, world-class training and administrative headquarters for the Blues Super Rugby Franchise at Alexandra Park in Auckland.
Covering an approximate area of 1800 sqm, the facility boasts a high-tech gymnasium, prehab/rehab area, rooms for seminars, medical and physiotherapy treatment, sports science and changing rooms, a cafe, and offices for coaching, team management and administration.
In addition to providing a home for the Blues Super Rugby Team, the facility is also used for age group development camps and a range of other usages in the sport and the community.
The design of the facility draws strongly on the cultural significance of the site - honouring this and the strong Polynesian and Maori heritage among the Blues players - with architecture and interior proposals being refined through a series of design sessions with local iwi Ngati Whatua Orakei.
