Design of a new village to replace an existing village threatened by methane gas emissions.

Design of a new village to replace an existing village threatened by methane gas emissions. The project, comprising 300 dwellings, primary school, village hall, miners’ welfare club, retail and community facilities, fishing lake, village green, and sports fields involved detailed consultations with both the community and other key stakeholder groups.

The project is unique in that it comprised the first village to be designed and built within a single generation in the UK for 76 years.
